upward mobility?

When I first came to America, there was an ESL student from Mexico named Carlos. He was taller than me, and was pretty athletic. we played on the basketball team together.

We lost touch over the years, and I have no clue what he's up to. actually, I can't even recall his last name either.. R something? Rengal? hmm... i can't recall the exact spelling.. (my Eng was pretty horrible those days)

Since then, I never really met a hispanic friend. (in College, I hung out mostly with other Koreas, GC was filled with sailor-mouthed ex armed-forces guys and gals and Korea was.. well.. Korea! :D

Just recently, while playing Destiny, I met bunch of new people, and one of my new friends is Hispanic. Our conversations opened up a whole new world, which I didn't even think too much about and practically chose to block out for so long. Although we don't get to talk a lot, conversations are always fascinating.

So Central America had been on my mind recently, and coincidentally, one of my "weird-quirky-podcast-indulgences": Planet Money just published the cost of crossing

# Thoughts
This beautiful world is marred by humanity: taking advantage of the less fortunate and their desires to climb out of the shit hole they find themselves in.
the terms of payment boils down to the common denominator: money or sex. #disgusting
